What is a one-off consultation?
Our one-off consultation service is perfect if you need legal input on a particular aspect of your immigration application or case rather than full-blown representation (although we do this too)
The three most common instructions for our one-off consultation service relate to
- Application checking: many clients ask us to check their applications and supporting evidence before submission
- General advice on dealing with a particular immigration issue: for example, identifying the most appropriate immigration route to apply in
- Advice following refusal: if your visa application has been refused, we consider the decision and advise on the best route forward
The aim of the one-off consultation process is for you to have clarity on your position by the completion of the session. Note that this may not always be possible if your case is complex

Can you review my application during a one-off consultation?
Yes, this is probably the main reason that clients engage us to undertake one-off consultations
When reviewing an application, we usually ask clients to try and complete the application as far as they can on their side, and then send to us prior to the session
- A copy of the incomplete PDF application form
- The supporting documents which will be submitted in support of the application
- A list of any specific queries you have
- Immigration history/background
We will then spend some time prior to the one-off consultation reviewing everything you have sent
During the session we will go through the draft application form, supporting documents, and the list of queries provided
We aim during the session to identify any mistakes you have made, and/or improvements that might be made to the presentation of the supporting evidence
-
What happens during one of our one-off consultation sessions?
Once you have decided that you wish to book a one-off consultation (see below “How can I book a one-off consultation?”), we will ask you to provide proof of your identity and address as required by our regulator
We may also ask you to provide additional information or documents relevant to the problem or issue you wish to discuss. For example, if you would like us to review your application prior to submission (see above), or to discuss the refusal of an application, we would ask you for the refusal decision and reasons, and the original application
One-off consultation sessions will generally take place remotely via Zoom and last up to an hour (including time spent considering documents and information sent through in advance)

Why instruct a lawyer in a one-off consultation?
We’re big fans of people not using lawyers. This is why we have spent time putting together videos guides on our YouTube channel to try and help people navigate the UK immigration system without needing to rely on lawyers.
And you can find a lot of information about the UK immigration online. Some of this information is reliable, some of it is not.
But the main reason to get advice from a regulated lawyer is (i) the advice will be tailored to your particular circumstances and (ii) most importantly, that advice will be regulated and insured
If advice from a regulated and insured lawyer is not accurate, you can complain and ultimately obtain compensation if you have suffered loss as a result of relying upon it
