Meet the Team

Nick Nason
Director and Owner
Nick is a solicitor with almost 15 years experience working for clients navigating the UK immigration system. He has a degree in history from the University of Durham, and a Masters in International Human Rights Law from Birkbeck College, University of London.
Nick trained and qualified as a solicitor at Luqmani Thompson & Partners, a nationally recognised legal aid firm specialising in immigration and public law. He is a proud volunteer alumn of the immense Bail for Immigration Detainees (BID) (London) and St. Andrews Refugee Services (StARS) (Cairo).
Nick founded Edgewater Legal in February 2017. He has provided training to other lawyers via ILPA in the law of criminal deportation, and is a Lexis Nexis expert panel member. He is a longstanding contributor to immigration law blog Free Movement.

Gill McKearney
Senior Solicitor
Gill is a Senior Solicitor at Edgewater Legal. She graduated with a degree in law from the University of Warwick, including an Erasmus year at University of Konstanz, Germany. She joined Edgewater Legal in January 2024.
Prior to joining Edgewater Legal, Gill was a Senior Associate within the immigration department of city law firm Fieldfisher LLP (April 2016 - December 2023), where she built up significant experience advising on personal and business immigration and nationality matters.
Alongside Nick, Gill volunteered at Bail for Immigration Detainees (BID) in 2009, and is committed to outstanding representation of all clients, and to improvement of the UK immigration system.
Gill is an ILPA trainer (Immigration Law Practitioners Association), author/contributor to Lexis Nexis PSL, contributor to the immigration law blog Free Movement.
Gill loves to write poetry, cycle and acquire new indoor plants.

Rebecca Hennessy
Solicitor
Rebecca qualified as a solicitor in 2017 but has worked in law for over 13 years (in Personal Injury, Clinical Negligence and contractual disputes). She enjoyed helping seriously injured clients rebuild their lives and brings that same level of support and dedication to her immigration clients.
Rebecca is passionate about human rights and volunteers at a local refugee centre. In her spare time, she enjoys walking her dog in the countryside and renovating her home.

Yorkabell Andemichael
Paralegal
Yorkabell holds a LLB from the University of Exeter and an LPC LLM from the University of Law. She has developed a keen interest in immigration law and has acquired experience in a broad range of areas within the practice area.

We also believe that immigration processes for individuals and businesses are stressful, difficult to understand, and unnecessarily expensive.
And we believe that everyone, from the largest corporate to the individual applicant, has the right to a well-qualified lawyer at affordable rates.
It is for these reasons that Edgewater Legal was founded and it is our mission to provide clients with exceptional levels of service, and to give advice and assistance about a complex and ever-shifting area of law in a straightforward way.

He provides content and guides for Lexis Nexis users (mainly lawyers), and takes questions from other subscribing practioners about immigration law and practice. Gill provides training to other lawyers via the Immigration Law Practitioner's Association (ILPA) popular training programme.
